What is Considered to be a Good Credit Score?

We constantly watch commercials and hear radio jingles about services that help you improve your credit history, and what can be the possible consequences of not having it repaired. So, by now, I guess, you know how important it is to have a good credit score.

But what figure is considered to be a good credit score?

Generally, anything above 700 is considered to be a good score. However, you don’t achieve everything just by having this score. It is not necessary that a lender would approve your loan application just because your score is 720 or 730. There are various factors that influence their decision which includes your credit worthiness, credit history, credit utilization, and so on.

Although there are many types of credit score available in the country, FICO score is accepted as the most reliable one. The credit score ranges from 300 to 850. However, you need to be above 700 in order to avail credit benefits offered by major creditors.

Benefits of Having a Good Credit Score

I had seen a commercial few days ago that says, if you have a good score, you can get a nice car and have the hottest chic besides you. However, it that was true, I would have had almost every chic in the town. If you have a good score, it becomes easier for you to get the loan approved. However, it doesn’t guarantee anything. Even the one with score of 849 can get rejected.

For lenders, giving a loan to person with high credit score is more secure than giving it to the one with low score. Since the lending is less risky in case of good credit score, the interest rate they charge is comparatively lower. Besides, you can also avail credit cards with various benefits if you have a good score.

Your credit score is like an identity. It says a lot about your spending and payment habits. It is the most important factor that affects your chances of getting a loan, job, accommodation, and so on. Hence, make sure you have a good credit score before you apply for anything.
