Change Your Shopping Style To Save Big Bucks!

Economical shopping is not only about slashing down your expenditure on non-essential goods and services, but also about cleverly understanding the loopholes in your style of shopping and molding them for a more economical experience. So here are certain aspects with respect to your shopping style that you could focus upon to come up with more frugal alternatives.

Shop With Cash, Not Cards

Although credit cards come with a lot advantages when it comes to shopping, try to use cash. At least that way you can limit your spending. Credit card processing might also take a longer time than cash processing, especially when the stores have older processing machines.

how to save money on shoppingMake a Planned Shopping

When I go shopping, I go with a predetermined plan to buy certain things and come back home with those many things only. If you don’t have a plan, its very easy for you to fall for each and every attractive item that you come across- especially during the holiday season, when you have so many of them. Make a note of your total expenditure after every purchase so that you keep a track of how much you are spending.

Plan Your Shopping Trip

Did you know that budgeted planning of your shopping does not only mean planning about the commodities that you actually buy, but also about certain things that we generally tend to overlook? For example, most of us travel on busy roads clogged with traffic during rush hours and waste a lot of time and money on vehicle fuel etc. Isn’t knowing the high traffic points beforehand and avoiding the route an economical option, both time and money-wise? Next, try to get prior information upon where to get what. This will save you a lot of time hunting for what you want in the malls. Get a list of all the major retailers of your town/city, find out what they sell and the price and quality of their products beforehand. If you are buying clothes for someone or a large piece of furniture always go to the shop with the exact measurements so that you don’t have problems with the size later on.

Eat Before You Start Out For Shopping and Carry Adequate Water

Shopping makes me really hungry – especially during holidays when I’m moving physically moving from one store to the other in search of gifts. Usually I take a quick bite of pizza or vegan burgers at one of the fast food joints near the shopping complexes. But believe me; this habit of mine is burning a hole in my pocket of late! Things have become so expensive! Even a cup of coffee costs about $2 these days! I found a solution for this. I go shopping immediately after a meal so that I don’t feel hungry .That gives me stamina to shop as well. I also carry a pack of my favorite chocolate cookies to brunch upon if I feel hungry in between. I also carry water from home to save on the costs of purchased bottled water.
